Useful Tips
Here’s ten Ho Chi Minh City travel tips to help make the best of your travel to Ho Chi Minh City:
- Keep healthy: If travelling in Vietnam during summer time (June to August), be wary of dehydration. Slip – slop – slap when travelling out and about.
- Bargaining is part of Vietnamese culture so try it! Just bargain down to what you're happy to pay for.
- Do not drink water from the tap! Water bottles are readily available.
- We recommend that you shouldn’t try “Motor Bike Taxis” as your insurance may not cover motor bike rides.
- Ask for cooled drinks but be careful of drinks with ice.
- ATM's and the Internet are quite popular now in every town and city.
- Dress respectfully with an awareness of local standards. Shoulders and knees must be covered when visiting pagodas or temples.
- Always ask first before photographing or videoing people.
- You should change money at a bank or established exchange centre, not from street vendors.
- Smile and have fun!
